About Us

Colyer London History
Colyer London is a specialist supplier to the creative and media industry in London. We only operate in this specialist area which means that we understand exactly what our customers require and hold many specialist products in stock so that they can be delivered within a couple of hours.

The company originated from a business founded in 1919 providing a photographic copying business to the legal professional near the Law Courts. They continued in this line of business until the World War II during which the business effectively closed down. In the recovery after the war the company extended its range of products to office stationery and art materials that resulted in the rapid expansion of the company and a chain of art shops was opened in and around London.

In the late 60’s and early 70’s the advertising and design industry in London exploded. These creative companies consumed large volumes of art materials and the company was well poised to serve them. This developed further as the company started to manufacture art boards and pads especially for this market.

In the early 90’s the Apple mac changed the industry almost overnight and replaced all the tools that were used for producing artwork. The company had foreseen this change and had become an Apple Authorised Reseller and became one of Apple’s main dealers in London.

In the mid 90’s the holding company had become a large group and in 1995 backed by venture capital company 3i the management of Colyer Graphics, as it was then know, purchased the company from the holding company.

In 2007 the company invested in a rebrand to Colyer London, this was implemented throughout 2008. The brand totally reflects the vision of being the supplier of choice to the creative and media industry by being fresh, fun and innovative.

Today the company supplies the majority of the top advertising and design agencies in London. Colyer has a turnover of £6m, employs around 35 staff. As recovery from the 2008 recession now seems imminent the company is implementing plans for growth gained through a combination of investment in activity and innovation, not acquisition.
